Tourbillon Relatif Movement
Defying the laws of gravity and equilibrium, the Piaget Polo Tourbillon Relatif watch heralds a new chapter in the history of this major complication. Suspended from one end of the minutes hand, the flying tourbillon carriage appears to be disconnected from the base movement driving it. The hours are indicated by a central disc, while the tourbillon carriage is swept along in the rotation of the minutes hand. Representing a powerful demonstration of expertise and cutting-edge technology, the three bridges of the tourbillon carriage are crafted in titanium, a particularly resistant and light-weight material. Composed of 42 parts, the carriage – which spins on its axis once per minute, in addition to the hourly rotation around the dial – weighs a mere 0.2 grammes! This new type of tourbillon is the most accomplished expression of the expertise cultivated by the Piaget Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie, embodying its consistent determination to place technical sophistication at the service of design.
